PGA Tour Stays in Mexico as DP World Tour Begins Two-Week Middle East Finale

Professional golf enters a pivotal November stretch as the PGA Tour returns to Los Cabos and the DP World Tour begins its season-ending Play-Offs in Abu Dhabi.

Professional golf is entering the part of the calendar where every position on the leaderboard carries added weight.

Beginning November 5, the PGA Tour continues its Mexican swing with the World Wide Technology Championship in Los Cabos, while thousands of miles away the DP World Tour begins the final two weeks of its 2026 season with the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship.

Both events bring very different championship races — but equally significant consequences.

The PGA Tour Returns to Los Cabos

The World Wide Technology Championship will be played November 5–8 at El Cardonal at Diamante, the Tiger Woods-designed course overlooking the Pacific in Los Cabos.

The par-72 layout stretches 7,452 yards and will host a 120-player field competing for a $6 million purse, with $1.08 million going to the champion along with 500 FedExCup points.

Defending champion Ben Griffin returns after producing a remarkable 29-under-par performance in 2025. Griffin’s victory came during a three-win season and established him as the player everyone will be measuring themselves against when competition begins Thursday.

But the tournament carries importance far beyond another trophy.

Only three FedExCup Fall tournaments remain, putting enormous pressure on players hovering around the top-100 threshold. Finishing inside that group is crucial for securing full PGA Tour status for the 2027 season.

That makes Los Cabos one of the year’s most important opportunities for players trying to protect their future on Tour.

The event also represents an important chapter in golf’s international expansion. First staged in 2007, the World Wide Technology Championship became the first official PGA Tour tournament contested outside the United States and Canada. The 2026 edition marks its 20th staging in Mexico.

The Race to Dubai Enters Its Final Phase

While the PGA Tour battles continue in Mexico, the DP World Tour begins its own high-stakes conclusion in the United Arab Emirates.

The Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship, taking place November 5–8 at Yas Links, is the first of two consecutive Rolex Series events forming the DP World Tour Play-Offs.

After a season spanning 40 events across 25 countries before the playoffs, the leading available players have arrived in Abu Dhabi to determine who will advance to the finale in Dubai.

At the center of the championship race is Eugenio Chacarra.

The Spaniard enters Abu Dhabi at No. 1 in the Race to Dubai after a three-win 2026 season. Patrick Reed, Rory McIlroy and Casey Jarvis are among his closest challengers as players battle for the Harry Vardon Trophy.

The Abu Dhabi field includes the leading 70 available players from the Race to Dubai standings, with only the leading 50 available players progressing to the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai from November 12–15.

That makes Abu Dhabi both a championship opportunity and an elimination event.

Two Tours, One High-Pressure Week

The settings could hardly be more distinct — the desert-meets-Pacific landscape of Los Cabos and the waterfront links of Yas Island — yet the stakes tell a similar story.

For some PGA Tour players, Mexico could determine whether they enter 2027 with full playing privileges.

For the DP World Tour’s elite, Abu Dhabi is the gateway to Dubai and a final opportunity to position themselves for the season’s biggest prize.

With careers, tour cards and championships all in play, professional golf’s November finale is officially underway.
